The first ever Craft Brewhaha beer tasting event took place last night and by all accounts was a huge success! We had over 20 people show up to experience the New Belgium Ranger IPA, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, Stone IPA and the Green Flash West Coast IPA, with the Lakewood Temptress Imperial Milk Stout thrown in as the mystery beer, and most everybody guessed correctly! We paired up the tasting session with great food from The Allen Wickers, threw in a fun beer-related trivia game for which Victoria Sarvadi practically ran the table, and topped it off with a raffle of 4 prizes that participants accumulated tickets for throughout the night. Victoria also came home with the grand prize of (4) Allen American hockey tickets for a game of her choosing throughout the season!
The tasting notes are in, and it appears the clear favorite from last night was the Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA by a large margin. Dogfish Heads have been a favorite of mine for a long time now as well so I can understand why they were the popular choice. We did have quite a few people mention that they’d like to see more variety as opposed to having all beers from the same style, so for the next event we’ll be doing more of a “horizontal” or multiple beer style tasting, from Lagers to Porters and everything in between! Be sure and register as soon as you can to make sure it doesn’t sell out as we are limited on space and want to prepare accordingly!
